A Partridge in a pear tree

Hi Everyone

So today I thought I would show you a card I made using one of the new Christmas Sets from Prickley Pear. They are lovely images and the quality of the stamps is brilliant.

I wanted to have a ‘play’ whilst I was working and I didn’t really have any idea in my head of what I was trying to achieve. I just knew that I wanted to use these particular stamps and my Tim Holtz Distress inks.

pear tree card1 I started with a piece of white gloss cardstock and added some Fired Brick and Peeled Paint distress ink all over with my blending tool. I also added a tiny amount of Pine Needle to the corners. I then used the Aged Mahogany inkpad to stamp the Partridge in the tree over the top. Once that had dried I inked the outline stamp of the partridge with Shabby Shutters and stamped off the edge of the gloss card, to stop it smudging I dried the images with my heatgun which made the images look like that had been done with a resist technique instead. I also used the text stamp from the set on the gloss card, inked with Fired brick but before I stamped it on there I stamped on scrap paper so that I had a lighter impression.

For the card base I started with plain white cardstock and coloured it with Fried brick and my blending tool. After it was dry I stamped to silhouette partridge with Pine Needle ink and the text with Fired brick, making sure to stamp off the edges too. To tie everything together I also used the Peeled Paint ink and blending tool around the edge of my patterned paper. Finally I added some organza ribbon and a faux metal tag to complete the card.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out and have to say I had a blast just playing!!!! I think I might just have to have another go!!

Prickley Pear's First Blog Hop and Challenge!!!!

Hi Everyone

I really wanted to let you all know that Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps are have their first blog hop starting today and they are also holding a sketch challenge too. You can find out all the details on their blog along with the sketch for the challenge. They are also offering a fab prize to the winning creation!!!!!!! SO why not hop over there is see just what you could win!

They also asked the Design Team if we would like to take the challenge too, how could we refuse another opportunity to play with stamps!!! So please not only visit the Prickley Pear blog but also my amazing Design Team mates and see what they came up with.

So now I've told you everything I suppose I should let you see what I did with the sketch

For my card I used one of the amazing new Christmas releases for this year. I stamped the tree and partridge with Broken China Distress Ink so that it would match my papers from a Diecuts with a View Christmas stack. To finish the card I added some grosgrain ribbon, and metal snowflakes from Making Memories and Papermania.

I really hope that you like it. I love these stamps so much and I know I'm going to have to play again soon!!

Doing another happy dance!

Hi Everyone

Oh my goodness! I've been asked to be a member of the Prickley Pear Design Team! I am so excited and feel so honoured to be asked to be on their team - more excuses to craft! yippee! I would also like to congratulate all the other new team members - I cannot wait to get to know you all. As soon as I have all of my new team mates blog addresses I will add them to my side bar so that you can visit them too.

I only have the one card for you today as I've been too busy celebrating.

This card uses one of the Flower Fairy stamps produced in the UK by Personal Impressions, her name is Rose Fairy. I decided that for a change I would colour her with watercolours (yes I know no copics - I'm trying to be good and use some of my other mediums but how long that will last I don't know) and I also stamped the image with Versamark and embossed her with detail silver embossing powder. To add some dimension to her I punched out some small leaves from vellum and used them to make her skirt and a small daisy from yellow paper for her skirt top. I finished the card by using the same vellum for the backing paper and added some gold liquid pearls to the top of her dress.

Here is a closer look at Rose - I think she is so beautiful.

Well that's it for this post as I just wanted to give you my good news, hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with some more cards that are sat waiting to be assembled.

Thank you to everyone for all the kind get well wishes - I think they may have started working, I really appreciate them.
